The idea
NextFuel shows the next fuel stations ahead of you, on your route and in your direction of travel, with their prices.
Your location stays on your phone
Your exact GPS position is read by your browser and never leaves your device. All calculations (direction, route, distances, station order) run on your device.
NextFuel has no user accounts. Our server does not store your location, your journey or any history.
What leaves your device
To find your route and prices, your browser queries public services directly:
- OpenStreetMap map data (Overpass service) is requested by areas of about 2 km (road) to 20 km (route and stations) through our server, which caches it; if our server does not respond, Overpass is queried directly with a position rounded to about 100 m;
- the OpenStreetMap base map receives the area on screen;
- official price services, and our relay for some countries, only receive an approximate area several kilometres wide.
Our relay only keeps prices grouped by area, never an identifier or a journey. As with any website, the host may keep technical logs (IP address, pages requested) for a limited time.
What your browser remembers
Your fuel choice and the country of areas you have already passed through (so it is not looked up again). This stays on your device: clear the site data to delete it.
Price badges
- Actual price: reported by the station, with the time of its last update;
- Official cap: maximum price set by the government (Belgium); the pump price may be lower;
- National average: weekly average published by the European Commission, for guidance only.
